Using your Resident "extra's"

For any of the following things to work, you need to ensure you are wearing your "Tranquil Resident" group tag. Most of the options are then accessed on the "about land" pop-up box that you can get up by going into your home, clicking the bar at the very top of the screen that says something like "Plot ** - Tranquility Bay Resort" or by standing in your home, and going to "World" on the main tool bar at the top of the screen and then "about Land". It is vital that when you bring up this box, you are stood inside you home or you could change the permissions on the main resort!!

If, having read the step-by-step guides below, you still have difficulty with any of these abilities, please contact a memeber of the management team who will be happy to help.

  • Locking the land :

To lock your home to stop other people just walking in - Bring up the "About land" pop-up box as described above, then click on the "access" tab of this box. On this tab you have several options, you can allow public access (the default setting when you rent your home), you can only allow residents who have either given payment info to Linden Labs or become age varified, you can set it to group access only (see Figure 1), or just allow the people on your "allowed" list access (figure 2). Please note, although it is possible for you to set it so you "sell passes" to enter your home, this is not something that we allow on this sim.

    Access List screenshots

The first step is to add yourself to the "allow" list as this will prevent you from accidently "locking" yourself out of your home. To do this, click the "add..." button that is under the box saying "Allowed Residents". This brings up the Secondlife person chooser. Type your name into the top box and click the "find" button. Your name will then appear in the big box below the find button, make sure your name is highlighted and click "Select". This will add your name to the big box under the words "Allowed Residents".

Repeat this process with any avatars you want to have access to your land (including the management team - Sorka Nemeth, Fortyniner Beck, Zenobia Fimicoloud, Moteand Bailey, and Pip Scribe). You can then either tick the "Allow Group Access" or just untick all the boxes to just allow the named residents access.

To add people to your "Banned" list is the same process, just using the "Add..." button under the box on the "Banned Residents" side. By adding a name to this box, that avatar will never be able to enter your home, even if the "Allow Public Access" is ticked.

  • Changing the Music/video stream in your home :

NOTE: Before doing this go into your preferences (via Edit on the tool bar at the top of the screen), go to the Audio & Video tab, and ensure that both "Play streaming music when available" and "Play streaming media when Available" are ticked or you will not be able to see/hear any media playing.

To change the media (either music or video) in your home - Bring up the "About land" pop-up box as described above, then click on the "media" tab of this box.

To set up movies on your land you will either need a tv or a simple prim that you have a texture for. Then set the media type to "Movie" in the drop down box "Media Type". Then click "Set..." button, this will bring up a small pop-up box where you can insert a media url, once you have put that in, click "ok". Then you have to put the texture that is the "screen" where the grey box with a big cross in it is, you can do this by double clicking that box and then selecting the texture from the list, or you can drag the texture directly from your inventory onto the box.

To set music on your land, simply find the url of the music station you wish to listen to (there are some good ones if you search shoutcast), paste the url into the "Music URL" box on the Media tab.

Both media's are then controled at the bottom of the screen (just above your inventory button) the music note for the music, and the movie camera for the movies. Press the arrow button beside one of these symbols to play your media.

  • Setting your home point :

To set your home point, stand in the place you want to arrive when you decide to teleport "home" and then open the world menu drop down on the main tool bar at the top of the screen. Click "Set Home to Here", you will recieve a blue pop-up box telling you that your home point has now been set.

  • Setting a landing point :

To set a landing point within your home - go into your home and stand where you want your guests to teleport into and then open the "about land" pop-up box by going into "world" on the top tool bar, and then "about land". Go to the "options" tab, and click the "set" button at the bottom of the box. Once you have done that, set the "Teleport Routing" to "Landing Point" from the drop down menu.
