The Moonglow Ballroom |
As well as owning "Tranquility Bay Resort" on Umansky, Sorka also owns two very popular dating spots in Secondlife. Both "The MoonGlow Ballroom" and "Isn't it Romantic" are situated on the mainland sim of Nakgol and are interlinked.
The MoonGlow Ballroom, is the more formal of the two areas. Both it and "Isn't it Romantic" were created in 1998 by one of Sorka's first, and closest friends on Secondlife, Josse Barnyard. The Ballroom itself is an open air, floating marble area that not only has ample space for dancing, but also has an intimate dining area, a grand piano and a couples carrousel as well as a set of proposal balls for if you wish to ask that special someone to be your partner. It's tropical setting looks out over two stretches of protected Linden ocean to give unbroken sunset views.
The MoonGlow Ballroom has become very popular with all nationalities with its easy listening jazz and big band music and recieves many compliments. Although there is no strict dress code, there is both a free Tux for the gents and a free ballgown for the ladies if you feel you want "dress up" for the occassion.
If you would like to see some pictures of The MoonGlow Ballroom, we have our own "MoonGlow Ballroom" group on Flickr, feel free to browse the pictures, and add any you may have of your own - we would love to hear of your special memories that have been made here. You can also see the pictures from the group as a slideshow at the bottom of this page.
A little history
Sorka worked at the MoonGlow Ballroom for Josse as a host with Fortyniner for 6 months, before being promoted up to Assistant Manager. On 2nd of May 2007, Sorka and Fortyniner got married in the gazebo just off of the dancefloor and held their wedding reception at the ballroom itself. In early 2008, Josse took the decision to sell the MoonGlow as she was leaving Secondlife due to RL commitments. When she approached Sorka about the sale, Sorka eagerly agreed to buy it as she had developed a deep attachment to the place and the sense of quiet romance that could be found there.
The MoonGlow Ballroom has remained much the same as it was under Josse's ownership, with just a few subtle differences, the most prominant of which are the carrousel and the new "Intan" couples dance system that can now be found there. Other more subtle differences are the family of swans who swim under the marble bridge that links The MoonGlow Ballroom and Isn't it Romantic - which you can feed by clicking and paying the feeder by the far side of the bridge, and the new underwater ballroom, which has cuddle poses and dance areas specifically designed for Secondlife's Mer-Folk to enjoy.
Using the Intan dance system
The introduction of the new intan dance system meant that many couples can now enjoy the romantic atmosphere without having to worry about all their "favorite" danceballs being taken. You simply stand where you wish to dance, and click one of the multicoloured balls on a pole that are situated around the dancefloor. The dance balls will rezz and come to where you are standing. To change between the many styles of dance available, simply click the multicoloured ball again to get a pop-up menu appear.
