Walleye News

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

We are almost at the end of our updates the to Walleye shopping area and I thought that it would be worth letting tenants and visitors to this blog know what we have done.

There are several new attractions including :-

  • A petting zoo with rabbits, merekats, monkeys, otters, birds, wallabies, piglets, goats and other animals
  • A new fairground including a haunted house
  • Information (TP) boards at strategic places across the sim including the sim centre
  • A monorail that goes around the whole sim
  • The old cinema has been replaced with an open area cinema
  • A park with plenty of plants, trees and water jets
  • An information centre for newbies including helpful hints and some freebies
  • A money tree – this is an old idea but from looking at the visitors it seems to bring people into the sim  - if anyone wants to donate to the tree they are more than welcome to :)
  • We are starting to hold dances in the Peggy Sue diner.

We hope that all of this remodelling helps draw more people into the sim, thus leading to more people coming into your shops and increasing your sales.

Please let us know what you think about the changes, we are always happy to listen to constructive comments

Happy New Year

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

Both I and Sorka would like to wish all our tenants and friends on Second Life a very happy and prosperous 2010.

We would also like to apologise for the lower level of service over the past couple of weeks, due to a RL injury Sorka has not been able to log onto a computer and I have been looking after her to ensure her speedy recovery.  The good news is that she is on the mend now and is looking forward to getting back on-line and in-world so that she can meet with all of her friends again.

On the Second Life front we are planning a few events and updates to the area at Walleye, it will still have the same look and feel although one or two of the shops may be changing their look – if any tenants have any ideas please let any of the management team know (myself, Sorka, Zenobia Fimicoloud, moteand Bailey, Pip Scribe), we are interested in looking at all elements of the area and want to make Walleye (and our outlaying areas at Nanda and Klens) THE place for people to come shopping.

As I have already said, have a great new year.

XStreetSL and merchant fees

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

We have been loyal merchants on Xstreet SL (even from back in the days when it was humble little Secondlfe Exchange SLExchange) , so you can imagine our shock when we found out that they are now going to try and scrape what little profit we make from our  items. Our company ethos has always been to provide a high level of quaility for minimum expenditure to help those that don’t have a lot of L$ in their accounts, and don’t want to buy in cash.  We have lots of items between us, most under L$50 listed on Xstreet SL, and thier plans to charge L$10 a month (per item) for us to list them is making it impossible for us to stay using this “service” – between us, Sorka and I have over 300 items, and do not make anything like the 3000L$ a month needed to list them.

Because we simply refuse to put up our prices to “absorb” this cost (as we still wouldn’t sell enough volume to cover the monthly costs anyway), we are simply going to be pulling any items we have made  from Xstreet SL in protest, if LL come to their senses and revert back to simply charging a commission on items sold (which we have no issue with) we may return but for now, we will be moving all items over to other SL online marketplaces – we are currently looking at slapt.me, metauniverse.com, and already use apez.biz.

We urge all you other merchants that use this “service” to do the same, maybe if enough of us bail out they will see the error of their greedy little ways, and if you don’t at least you have been made aware of the issue.

The official announcement is at http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Managing_Freebies_on_Xstreet_SL_Roadmap_FAQ if you are interested.

News from Walleye

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Tenants may have noticed a  problem at Walleye today, this affected shops in the South East corner of the sim and was caused by a neighbour on an adjoining sim (Drum) having a security orb on their land turned up too high.  This meant that it was issusing warnings about people only having 15 seconds to leave the area.  A chat with concierge and an AR to LL solved the problem.

I would also like to tell tenants about a slight remodelling that has taken place – the empty ring building on the North East corner of the sim has beeb removed and replaced by two shops – one of these is for rent, the other will be used by Fortyniner Beck for a new product range that he is developing.  The other bit of remodelling currently underway is to replace the old dance hall with a 1950′s style diner and dance area.  Finally, in the North West corner of the sim we have put some fairground attractions down, these include coconut shys, test your strength and other sideshows – why not pop over and try them out, they are all free to use.

We hope that the changes to the area will freshen it up a little and bring in some additional visitors to the area.

Developments on Nanda and Walleye

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

You may have seen the redevelopment that is going on at our Walleye development, primarily in the North West corner of the sim.

We took advantage of the shop in the far North West becoming empty to remove that shop, a neighbouring shop and the big gallery in that area and are replacing them with a few different designs that we feel will be more useful to tenants.  At the same time we have remodelled the area at the centre of the sim slightly, reducing the number of shops by one but opening the area up a little and changing the shop designs at the same time.

We hope to have the redevelopment completed in the next couple of days and then the new shops will be ready for rental (we have to sort out one or two rental boxes that either need to be put down or having some errors fixed on them).

On a side note our Nanda development has been taken over by our manager Zenobia Fimicoloud who now has her first Megastore covering a massive 64x64m2 plot with three floors.  Zen is an accomplished builder and her Paws-4-Thought brand is continually expanding.  We are pleased to be able to help Zen in her expansion and hope that she continues to grow.  She as promised to keep her main store on Walleye and this, we think, will benefit everyone as she takes part in many traffic generating schemes including hunts.  I have personally seen people TPing in to her store and then go off wondering around the sim to see what else is there – thank you Zen.

New development at Klens

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

We are pleased to announce that we have recently opened a new commercial development on the Klens sim in Secondlife.

At present this has two empty stores with the other 5 already being used.  This develeopment is slightly different from our others in that it is divided by a Linden Road.

For information about the empty stores please contact one of the management team, we would be more than happy to give you landmarks or talk to you about costs.

Welcome to our new tenant – Pip Scribe

Friday, September 25th, 2009

We would like to welcome our latest tenant on Walleye – Pip Scribe.

Pip has rented the 30m x 20m store on the northern edge of Walleye and is selling a range of bears.  There is a nice range of both animated and static bears.  Why not pop over and see the bear that pops out of his box.

Pip is a talented builder of bears, having found her niche after a slight disaster with neko tails that seemingly had a mind of their own and chatted to all and sundry with very little prompting.

More land at Walleye

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

We have been lucky enough to be able to purchase some more land on the Walleye sim (for those of you that know the sim this was where the castle was) bring us up to 60,000m2 of land on this sim and a total land holding of around 93,000m2 being used for commercial purposes.

This latest purchase has allowed us to redevelop the area a little and we are moving two shops so that they are back in line with the others near the train platform.  The area that then opens up will be used for an attaraction to pull more visitors into the area for our shop keepers.  We have one or two ideas as to what this could be but are open to suggestions from any tenants.
